School of Data’s Fellowship and Data Expert Programmes for International Applicants

The School of Data is now accepting applications for its 2017-18 nine-month fellowship training programme. International applicants are eligible to apply for this fellowships programme.

The purpose of the School of Data Fellowships programme is to build capacity among NGOs and journalists. School of Data fellowship programme aims to recruit and train the next generation of data leaders and trainers to magnify the reach of our data literacy programme.

School of Data started as collaboration between Open Knowledge International and Peer-to-Peer University in 2012. School of Data is a network of data literacy practitioners, both organizations and individuals, implementing training and other data literacy activities in their respective countries and regions.

Course Level: This is a nine-month fellowship training programme. Fellowships are available for data-literacy practitioners or enthusiasts.

Study Subject: The fellows will provide training and ongoing support to journalists, civil society organizations, and individual change-makers to use data effectively within their community and country.

 Scholarship Award: Fellowships are available up to $1,000 USD a month.

Number of scholarships: Up to 10 fellowships are available. School of Data have current collaborations and resourcing confirmed to support up to 2 fellows from Senegal or Ivory Coast and up to 6 positions for applicants from any country worldwide.

Scholarship can be taken in the Uganda and Tanzania

Eligibility: The following criteria must be met in order for applicants to be eligible for fellowship:

School of Data is inviting journalists, civil society advocates and anyone interested in pushing data literacy forward to apply for its 2017 Fellowship and Data Expert Programmes, which will run from April to December 2017.

 Ideal candidate combines the following skills:

  • Data savvy: has experience working with data and a passion for teaching data skills.
  • Understands the role of Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) and media in bringing positive change through advocacy, campaigns, and storytelling. Fellows are passionate about enabling partners to use data effectively through training and ongoing support.
  • Interested or experienced in working with journalism and/or civil society.
  • Has some facilitation skills and enjoys community-building (both online and offline).
  • Eager to learn from and be connected with an international community of data enthusiasts.

Nationality: International applicants are eligible to apply for this fellowship programme.

College Admission Requirement

Entrance Requirement: Applicants must possess experience in, and enthusiasm for, a specific area of data literacy training.

English Language Requirement: Applicants must meet the necessary language proficiency requirements of the host institution.

CTC Foundation Scholarships in USA

The CTC Foundation offers need and merit-based scholarships to competitively selected students every year. These scholarships are awarded in late spring and are available to recipients for the fall and spring semesters of the following academic year.

In 1992 the Central Texas College Foundation was formed as a charitable non-profit corporation to generate community support for the students, faculty, staff and programs of CTC.

Brief description:

The Endeavour Executive Fellowship provides financial support towards professional development opportunities (1-4 months) for high achievers in business, industry, education or government for non-Australians and Australians.

The Endeavour Executive Fellowship focuses on learning and building skills and knowledge through a host work environment in the applicant’s field or area of expertise rather than through formal enrolment in a study programme and are not suitable for academic research proposals. Professional development activities could include management training, peer-to-peer learning, mentoring, short courses and developing leadership skills.

Eligibility:

To be eligible to receive an Endeavour Executive Fellowship, applicants must:

•  be aged 18 years or over at the commencement of their programme

•  be a citizen and/or permanent resident of a participating country (see above)

•  commence their proposed programme after 1 January 2017 and no later than 30 November 2017. Applicants who have already commenced or will commence their intended programme prior to 2017 are not eligible to apply

•  provide all relevant supporting documentation

• not currently hold or have completed, since 1 January 2015, an Australian Government sponsored scholarship and/or fellowship (directly administered to recipients by the Australian Government)

•  not apply for a category in which they have already completed an Endeavour Scholarship or Fellowship.
