Health Scholarships for International PhD Students in Denmark

Aarhus University Research Foundation is offering scholarships for PhD programme at the Graduate School of Health. The grant awarded is a scholarship to international PhD students enrolled at a non-Danish university.

Calls for AUFF grants are with the purpose of improving the internationalization of the PhD education at Health.

The Graduate School of Health is one of Denmark’s largest graduate schools and holds long-standing traditions for recruiting students from the entire health science area.

Course Level: Scholarships are available for pursuing PhD programme at the Graduate School of Health.

Study Subject: Scholarships are awarded in the field of Biomedicine, Public Health, Clinical Medicine, Dentistry and Oral Health and Department of Forensic Medicine.

Scholarship Award:

  • Recruitment of talented international candidates to the PhD program at Health: DKK 15,000 for 1-3 months as funding for a research stay at Health. The purpose of the research stay is an assessment of the candidate’s suitability for PhD studies at Health.
  • Travel grant for a research stay at Health for international PhD students: DKK 15,000 for 3-6 months as funding for a research stay at Health. The purpose of the research stay is PhD studies and project work relevant to the candidate’s PhD program.

Entrance Requirement: Applicants must have master’s degree.

Test Requirement: No

English Language Requirement: Applicants must have a high level of English proficiency. This means that applicants are expected to have English language qualifications comparable to the English B level from the Danish upper secondary school (gymnasium). International qualifications comparable to this level are:

  • TOEFL test results of at least 560 (paper based test) or 83 (internet based test)
  • IELTS test with a minimum score of 6.5 points
  • C1 level obtained by examination from a CEFR-validated English language course

PhD Scholarships at Department of Innovation and Organizational Economics in Denmark

Copenhagen Business School invites applications for a number of vacant PhD scholarships (3-5) at the Department of Innovation and Organizational Economics (INO).

The main objective of the university is to provide high quality, comprehensive educational and training opportunities that are compatible to changing needs of the students.

Copenhagen Business School often abbreviated and referred to as CBS, is a public university situated in Copenhagen, the capital of Denmark.

Course Level: Scholarships are available for pursuing PhD programme.

Study Subject: Scholarships are awarded at the Department of Innovation and Organizational Economics (INO).

Scholarship Award: The three-year scholarships are fully salaried positions, according to the national Danish collective agreement. The scholarship includes the tuition fees, office space, travel grants plus a salary, currently starting with per month app. DKK 28,837.00 (app. 3,865.00 euro) up to DKK 34,865.00 (app. 4,670.00 euro), depending on seniority, plus a pension contribution totalling 17.1% of 85 per cent of the base salary. Applicants accepted for the four-year program will receive a lower salary for the first two years. The salary level and appointment is determined by the Ministry of Finance’s collective agreement with the Central Academic Organisation.

Scholarship can be taken in Denmark

Eligibility:

  • The Department will give priority to applicants with the following qualifications: high grades from their universities, an educational background in the social sciences, and finally, the applicants must be fluent in English.
  • To be considered for the three-year program, the candidate should have a basic training at the Masters level (similar to the 3 + 2 Bologna process and a total of 180+120 ECTS). However, applicants who hold a one year Master’s degree may also be considered for evaluation. PhD students who enter the PhD program with a one year Master’s degree (60 ECTS) may be offered a four-year program.

Nationality: Citizens of all nationalities are eligible to apply.

College Admission Requirement

Entrance Requirement: To be considered, the candidate should have a basic training at the Masters level (similar to the 3 + 2 Bologna process). An educational background in the social sciences is necessary.

English Language Requirement: In order to be eligible applicants must be fluent in English.

How to Apply: Copenhagen Business School must receive all application material, including all appendices by the application deadline. Application must be sent via the electronic recruitment system. The application must include a five-page project description. This research proposal should contain a presentation of an original research question, a description of the initial theoretical framework and methodology, a presentation of the suggested empirical material as well as a work-plan. In addition to the research proposal, the application must include;

  • Brief curriculum vitae (CV),
  • A list of papers and publications, and if relevant one copy of a selected written work (e.g. Master’s thesis),

Postdoc position on data mining of health record data at the Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Protein Research

A postdoc position is available in the Cellular Network Biology group at The Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Protein Research (CPR – www.cpr.ku.dk). The Center has been established at the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, University of Copenhagen, to promote basic and applied discovery research on human proteins of medical relevance. The Center comprises a wide range of expertise and resources including proteomics, protein production, bioinformatics and general characterization of disease mechanisms. The Programme for Disease Systems Biology consists of two research groups covering many systems level aspects of biology and medicine, including the integration of molecular-level data and healthcare data, including biomedical texts.

Responsibilities and tasks

The Cellular Network Biology group (www.cpr.ku.dk/research/disease-systems-biology/jensen/) led by Lars Juhl Jensen focuses on network-based analysis of proteins and their posttranslational modifications in the context of cellular signaling and disease. The postdoc will work on analysis of data from electronic health records combined with molecular-level data in the context of alcoholic liver fibrosis and be part of the GALAXY consortium (http://livergalaxy.eu/).

Projected start date: Summer 2017.

Qualifications

Candidates for the postdoctoral positions must hold a PhD degree (or equivalent) within a relevant discipline and have experience with programming and large-scale data analysis. The successful candidates will have strong qualifications or experience within several of the following areas:

  • Bioinformatics / computational biology
  • Experience with medical data
  • Statistical data analysis
  • Programming in Python and/or R

The cellular network biology group is highly multidisciplinary and international. Members are expected to collaborate both within the group, within the center, nationally, and internationally; strong networking and team player skills are therefore valued.

Place of employment and work

The employment is at CPR (www.cpr.ku.dk), University of Copenhagen, located in central Copenhagen. The research environment at CPR is ambitious and international, with approx. 30 different nationalities currently represented. The Center comprises modern laboratories, supercomputer resources and state-of-the-art facilities within protein science. Seminars with high-profile international speakers and regular internal research seminars are organized at the Center. The selected candidate should expect some travel activity.

Terms of salary and employment

Salary, pension and terms of employment will be in accordance with the agreement between the Ministry of Finance and The Academics Central organization. Currently, the monthly salary is around 32,000-33,700 DKK (around 4,200-4,500 €) plus 17.1 % in pension contribution.

The Danish Ministry of Finance and the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations (AC) have agreed on a protocol that makes it possible for all international researchers employed by the University to achieve a pension exemption, where the pension will be paid as salary.
