  • Applicants of AIST Foundation Steel Scholarships must commit to a paid summer internship at a North American steel company or industry supplier.
  • The student must be a citizen of the United States, Canada, or Mexico, or he/she eligible for employment in a NAFTA country through a work permit.
  • The students with a GPA of 2.5 or more are eligible to apply for the scholarship.
  • The students with majors in metallurgy, materials science, electrical, mechanical, chemical, industrial, environmental, computer science are accepted.
  • The students applying must be a part of accredited North American university, enrolled full-time in a four-year undergraduate program.

Types of Scholarship:

  • Steel Intern Scholarship – The Summer internship is followed by a US$6,000 one-year scholarship.
  • The awards are up to 20 in number.
  • Premier Intern Scholarship – The applicant with the top score will be awarded the Premier Scholarship. He/She will receive US$12,000 with a paid summer internship.
  • Steel Scholarship – The scholarship does not include an internship and the student is awarded US$3,000 one-year scholarship.

  • An essay should be submitted explaining your professional goals, your interests in the steel industry and how your skills will support the industry in two pages.

The Max Planck Institute (MPI) for Dynamics and Self-Organization invites applications for a PhD position in Theoretical Biological Physics. This institute is an international research institute, performs both experimental and theoretical fundamental scientific research. The Department of Structural Engineering at the NTNU announces 01 vacant PhD and 01
vacant post doc position in the field of anti-icing surfaces. Both positions are for a period of
three (03) years.


  1. Research Council of Norway’ FRINATEK program via the project titled Towards Design of Super-Low Ice Adhesion Surfaces (SLICE)
  2. Research Council of Norway’ PETROMAKS II program via the project Durable Arctic Icephobic Materials {AIM).

Position 1: One (01) vacant post doc position in the field of modelling and surface design for CO2 condensation. The position is for a two (02) years’ period and financed by the Research Council of Norway’ CLIMIT program via the project titled Superlyophobic surfaces for efficient separation and droplet condensation of CO2 (NanoDrop). The project is coordinated by SINTEF energy.

Position 2: The PhD position in anti-icing surfaces The primary objective of the SLICE project is to establish and evaluate design principles towards super-low ice adhesion surfaces, by developing models which couple the ice-solid interactions at atomistic scale to the interface crack initiation at macroscopic scale.

Position 3:The post doc position in anti-icing surfaces The primary objective of the AIM project is to develop and test bio-inspired robust icephobic materials, which can survive multiple harsh environmental cycles and impacts.

The post doc position in modelling and surface design for dropwise condensation. The ultimate goal of the project NanoDrop is to accelerate the process necessary for reaching full-scale CO2-capture by reducing cost and increasing energy-efficiency.

Doctoral Student in Nanotechnology

University of Oulu invites applications for the position of PhD student in the field of nanotechnology to support the Printed electronics research team in the Optoelectronics and Measurement Techniques Research Unit. PhD student is going to conduct research in the surface modification related projects that concern forming various nanostructures by using ink-jet printing technology and other additive manufacturing technologies.

2017 UNESCO/Poland Co-sponsored Fellowships Programme

Overview: With a view to promoting human resource capacities in the developing countries and to enhancing international understanding and friendship among nations and the people of Poland, the Polish National Commission for UNESCO and the UNESCO Chair for Science, Technology, and Engineering Education at the AGH University of Science and Technology in Krakow have placed forty-five (45) fellowships of six (6) months duration each, in Poland.

Programme Starts: 2 October 2017

Study Level: Masters

Area of Study: The beneficiaries of these fellowships will be given the opportunity to undertake an individual research programme in the field of Science, Technology and Engineering

Scholarship Value: Free tuition and access to the university facilities based on the local regulations.
Accommodation at the AGH UST Student Campus organised for fellows by the UNESCO AGH Chair.
Monthly allowance of 1350 PLN (approximately US $450) corresponding to the salary of a local junior research fellow. Thus, all living expenses and accommodation in Poland are to be borne by the fellow with this allowance; and;
A one especial allowance of 1350 PLN to be paid upon arrival in Poland, this sum will cover different activities related to your stay in Krakow, such as an obligatory medical check-up upon arrival (in accordance with the internal regulations for all students); cultural, historical and/or touristic visits, conferences, workshops, and seminars related to your studies.

Requirements: The required qualifications for each field of research (project) are as per the attached annexes to this letter of announcement (see Annex III).
